Things to do

Stanthorpe and the Granite Belt boasts some of Queensland’s best attractions.  With over 40 winery cellar doors, boutique cafe’s and restaurants, scheduled events and world class National Parks, there’s plenty to fit in on your weekend away at Maric Park.

For information on what’s happening during your stay, the Southern Downs and Granite Belt website has lots of information to help you plan your outings.

Do you like to go bicycle riding?  Why not check out Granite Belt Bicycle Hire, You have choices to do one of their conducted tours or you can hire your bicycles and have them dropped off to the cottage and travel the local bike-ways to the attractions and wineries.

If cheese is your thing then a visit to Stanthorpe Cheese is a must. They have a great range of well made cheeses.

Feel like something yummy for morning tea. Why not vist Suttons Farm at Thulimbah just 10 minutes north of Stanthorpe.  They have locally made Apple Juice and Apple Cider. Enjoy a meal or just enjoy a slice of their famous Apple Pie. Don’t leave the district without trying it. Apple pie  is also available for take-away now.

Over 12 years of opera weekends we have stayed at so many Stanthorpe cottages but these are the best! Stylishly appointed yet cosy, and so peaceful Marion and Eric are the most hospitable hosts: provisioning for delicious continental breakfasts (including Nespresso!); replenishing milk and wood for the fire – and even stoking it up so we are toasty when we return at night. Both cottages are equally idyllically set overlooking this beautiful property with its own lookout – and resident dog, Morocco, who will ensure you are never lonely!

Maric Park cottages are beautifully appointed, with hospitality second to none. The cottages have everything you need for a comfortable stay. A home away from home. The country setting is so relaxing.
